Mining Co.,Ltd., whose head office is at Tientsin, and ascer-
tain if that Company could undertake the conduct of a
British Post Office there. They replied that they were
prepared to assist in this by allowing a member of their
staff to take charge and act as Agent; they also made cer-
tain suggestions as to the staff required and their remune-
ration.

After consulting my Executive Council who
advised that a Post Office should be established at Tient-
sin for one year and that the question of its continuation

should be considered after one year's working, I obtained
from the Postmaster General the following estimate of the
expenditure involved:-
